Last week the Dutch government imposed similar restrictions to the ones its European neighbors have implemented to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

The Netherlands announced it was closing schools and universities, ordered bars and restaurants to mostly shut and told people to work from home as much as possible. The country has not issued a shelter in place order to citizens and residents.

On Monday thieves defied the nation’s latest lockdown light rules and stole a famous Van Gogh at a Dutch Gallery.

The Metro reported:

A Dutch museum says that a painting by Vincent van Gogh was stolen in a raid overnight.

The Singer Laren museum east of Amsterdam says ‘Spring Garden’ by the Dutch master was stolen in the early hours of Monday.

The museum is currently closed because of restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus, the museum and police said today.
