When it comes to President Trump's handling of the coronavirus, good news is bad news—for the liberal media.
Joe Scarborough proffered a perfect example of the phenomenon on today's Morning Joe. Yesterday, President Trump gave a measured press-conference performance on the coronavirus. He struck a notably candid and somber note in warning that "things will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better."
You might have thought that Scarborough & Co. would have welcomed President Trump's serious tone. But no. To the contrary, it enraged Joe, sending him into a table-pounding, screaming fit. "One day! One day!," he bellowed. Scarborough ended by telling Trump to "just go home: you've already killed enough Americans."
Scarborough might have been seeking to display supposedly-righteous fury. But what he really did was let the cat out of the MSM bag. Between now and Election Day, what the liberal media dreads is for President Trump to lead a successful fight against the virus. That's why the president's composed performance of yesterday sent Scarborough into paroxysms of rage.
He also screamed about those alleged murderers who won't wear a mask in public: "Once in a while, he doesn’t say something that encourages Americans to [screaming] abuse store clerks . . . because they think that Americans have fought and died for over 240 years so they could have the constitutional right to kill senior citizens. To kill diabetics. To kill people with asthma. To kill their family members and to kill others by not wearing masks."
This was Scarborough's third day back from a two-week break that wife Mika Brzezinski had ordered, and which one suspects was the result of her concern for his mental state. As we reported Monday, yesterday, and now today, Joe's rest period has manifestly failed to produce the desired results. If anything, his hate-filled derangement has only worsened. Sad.
Sidenote: Despite his job as an Associated Press "reporter," Morning Joe regular Jonathan Lemire appears to have abandoned any pretext of objectivity. Opening today's show, one might have assumed that Lemire was subbing for Scarborough. Because his opening lines sounded like standard-issue anti-Trump partisanship, rather than those of an ostensibly objective reporter. He declared:
"After the president spoke, there was that rush to proclaim, which we're NOT going to do here, to say that he had a new tone."
Sounds like Lemire wants to ditch his AP job, and was auditioning for a full-time MSNBC gig.
Here's the transcript.

Morning Joe
7/22/20
6:04 am EDT
JONATHAN LEMIRE: I think we saw, after the president spoke --
MIKA BRZEZINSKI Oh, man.
LEMIRE: -- there was that rush to proclaim, which we’re not going to do here, a rush to proclaim that he had a new tone. And there were some who said we should set aside our criticisms of him, and simply celebrate what he did say. Okay. Some of those things were good -- he did encourage people to wear a mask --
JOE SCARBOROUGH: No, but, but, but, but, but, but: this has happened repeatedly. He’ll have one day [begins shouting] One day! One day! Out of the past six, seven months! Again, let's put this into perspective, my friends. Once in a while, he reads a script. Once in a while [shouting], he doesn't say something that makes the lives of senior citizens and diabetics and people with asthma hang in the balance. Once in a while, he doesn’t say something that encourages Americans to [screaming] abuse store clerks . . . because they think that Americans have fought and died for over 240 years so they could have the constitutional right to kill senior citizens. To kill diabetics. To kill people with asthma. To kill their family members and to kill others by not wearing masks.
. . .
And I’m not being sarcastic here — do what Joe Biden [begins pounding table] told you to do at the end of January . . . No credit. Sorry. Just stop. Just go home. You’ve already killed enough Americans.
