Ah, debate night. That special evening when everyone, especially lefties in Hollywood, gathers round the TV set with their phones at the ready to call the Republican candidate a “racist.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden led that charge. The 2020 Democrat presidential candidate called Trump a “racist” and repeated the thoroughly-debunked lie that Trump praised white supremacists in Charlottesville. Hollywood looked on with mouth-watering delight.
The moment that got Hollywood lefties real hot and bothered, though, was when debate moderator and Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace asked Trump whether he would condemn “white supremacists” and “militia groups.” The president replied, “I’m willing to do that,” and then after an awkward exchange where Biden called out for Trump to denounce the “Proud Boys,” Trump uttered, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.”
For the hyenas of Hollywood Twitter, the only interpretation of this moment was that Trump was sidestepping the condemnation of white supremacists and telling a group of racist militiamen to hold their villainous action until he gives the order. Though Trump has specifically condemned white supremacists and neo-Nazis at least twice now.
Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus chomped at the bit to call Trump a racist, Nazi, what have you. After that debate exchange, she tweeted, “Trump just said to all white supremacists to ‘stand back and stand by.’” Um, no. Not exactly, Elaine. Check the clip again.
Eco-nut Bernie Bro and part-time actor Mark Ruffalo tweeted as though President Trump celebrated Nazism. He wrote, “I want to live in a country where my President is not afraid to call white supremacists and Nazis racists thugs and terrorists and then do everything he can to stop them.”
But, again, as Trump pointed out in the debate, where’s the condemnation of ANTIFA and the Black Lives Matter left which has inspired most of the violence on city streets since May?
Emotional wreck and Beauty and the Beast actor Josh Gad tweeted that Trump was now supporting the types of people who killed his ancestors in the holocaust. He wrote, “The Nazis killed my family members. Tonight Trump told them to ‘stand by.’ I have never imagined saying these words in my life. ‘Mr. President, FUCK YOU.’”
Gad tweeted similarly, “Tonight, we either choose a man who has principle or one who can’t bring himself to call white supremicists,[sic] ‘white supremacists.’ THATS it. That’s the choice.” Again, Trump has denounced white supremacists on multiple occasions.
A Wrinkle in Time director and loud Hollywood Black Lives Matter mouthpiece Ava DuVerany tweeted lies about Trump being a white supremacist. She wrote, “For those who hadn’t been listening for the past 4 years, Trump just told you that he ain't leaving and that he is a white supremacist. If that doesn't get every American who is not white into overdrive to toss his ass - we may actually deserve what happens next.”
Though all Trump did was make the case that a heavy switch to mail-in voting this cycle would be ripe for election fraud, (which there’s a case for,) and said he’d “be willing to” condemn actual white supremacist groups, which again, he has.
And Scrubs star Zach Braff got real cute with it, tweeting, “Only honest thing I digested: Nazis standby!” Ah, yes, Hollywood is convinced that Trump’s a Nazi. What else is new?
