As if The View wasn’t already obnoxious enough, MSNBC's Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski joined the ABC hosts on Wednesday’s show to talk up Joe Biden and bash the Republican Party. Brzezinski even told the hosts she hoped Biden would investigate President Trump for nearly "destroying our democracy."
Co-host Sunny Hostin prompted that particular hot take. This was the second day in a row that the hosts have asked their anti-Trump guests if Biden should prosecute the President once he leaves office, with Joy Behar asking John Bolton the same question yesterday:
SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah, Mika, you know, President-Elect Biden is already facing calls from some in the Democratic party to investigate and prosecute President Trump. One of the senior prosecutors in the Mueller investigation just also came forward and said that the next attorney general should hold Trump accountable for any criminal behavior in office despite how divisive that could be for the country. What's the best move for the sake of the country in your opinion?
After saying she and Joe disagreed, Mika demanded there be more investigations by Democrats into President Trump because he nearly "destroyed our democracy" (Liberals are really showing how much they want to "unite the country.")
"You can't let all these things go by and just pretend that they'll never happen again," she warned:
I don't think it's enough with letting things go by. How much are we going to let just past by with this presidency which has come so close to destroying our democracy more than any other president? And I do think that there needs to be a degree of investigations, and also a postmortem on what happened, and our institutions, where they softened, where they didn't hold. I think more of a check on the Attorney General in the future. That really, I think showed weakness in our democracy. We need to learn from this so that we never go through something like this again, and I understand, you know, sometimes doing a pardon for the sake of unity and moving forward -- this is different. You can't let all these things go by, and just pretend that they'll never happen again. We have to do something about the many perils that this president put toward our democracy.
Their guests also spent some time celebrating a return of the swamp with Joe Biden’s “awfully great” cabinet picks.
Joy Behar and Ana Navarro invited Scarborough to bash his former party with their questions. Behar offered up this plea: “So, okay. Joe, are you surprised so many of your old Republican colleagues have stayed mute? Mute, while the president tries to undermine democracy? Even now there are only a few willing to call Biden President-Elect. How quickly do you think it will change when he takes office, do you think?”
As for Navarro, she wondered, “[W]here does all this leave disaffected Republicans like you, like me? Is the Republican Party -- does it stand any chance of recovering from something like we just went through the last four years? Can they win somebody like you back?”
Scarborough bragged how he could never go back to the GOP because it was led by a “fascist”:
... I don't go back to the Republican party. Donald Trump is a fascist. Donald Trump has behaved like a fascist, and if you don't believe me, just look up the definition. Look at the fact that the man time and again has called on his supporters to commit acts of violence. Look at the fact that again, he's talked about arresting his political opponents, undermining our Constitutional norms, saying that the Constitution and Article 2 gives him unlimited power. My Republican party, the Republican party of my youth remains silent. I can never go back there….
