On NBC’s Today show Wednesday morning, just hours before Joe Biden’s inauguration, weatherman Al Roker hoped to be able repeat an embarrassing display during the 2013 inauguration when he yelled at then-Vice President Biden like an adoring groupie during the inaugural parade. That moment sparked a long-running “bromance” between Roker and Biden that clearly continues to this day.
“And, guys, you know, of course that virtual parade, unfortunately, it means we likely won’t see a repeat of that unforgettable moment back in 2013, during that parade, where Al nabbed a handshake with then-Vice President Joe Biden,” co-host Craig Melvin reminded viewers during the 7:30 a.m. ET half hour.
A clip played of the incident, as if it was something for the network to proud of, showing Roker at the 2013 second inaugural of President Obama pleading with Biden to run over for a handshake during the parade and the then-Vice President obliging: “Mr. Vice President! Mr. Vice president! Hey, how you doing? C’mon, C’mon! That’s it! Yes! Yes!”
In the months that followed, Roker gushed over Biden, even repeatedly inviting him to co-host the Today show:

On Wednesday, Roker was still hoping to repeat the fangirl moment at the upcoming scaled-down inaugural parade: “Well, hope springs eternal, guys. Hope springs eternal because we will be along that parade route because the President and the Vice President will be walking. So, you know, we’re looking forward to it.”
This is the adulation that leftist media outlets like NBC will shower upon the Biden administration.
