Posted on 18 March 2020

A second Congressman tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday.

Rep. Ben McAdams (D-UT) announced Wednesday he tested positive for Coronavirus.

“On Saturday evening, after returning from Washington, D.C., I developed mild cold-like symptoms. In consultation with my doctor on Sunday, I immediately isolated myself in my house. I have been conducting all meetings by telephone,” McAdams said in a statement.

“My symptoms got worse and I developed a fever, a dry cough and labored breathing and I remained self-quarantined.”

He continued, “Today I learned that I tested positive [for COVID-19].”

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, 58, was the first member of the House or Senate to test positive for the Coronavirus.

“On Saturday evening, Congressman Diaz-Balart developed symptoms, including a fever and a headache. Just a short while ago, he was notified that he has tested positive for COVID-19,” the Congressman said in a statement.

Members from both chambers have self-quarantined after potential exposure to others with the virus, Fox News reporter Chad Pergram said on Wednesday evening.
