‘Developing Hot Spots’ – President Trump Mulls New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Quarantine

Posted on 28 March 2020

President Trump on Saturday said he was considering a short term enforceable quarantine in Coronavirus hot spots such as New York, New Jersey and parts of Connecticut.

“I’m thinking about that right now. We might not have to do it but there’s a possibility that sometime today we’ll do a quarantine,” Trump told reporters at the White House Saturday. “Short-term, two week on New York, probably New Jersey and certain parts of Connecticut.”

The President also followed up his remarks in a tweet.

“I am giving consideration to a QUARANTINE of developing “hot spots”, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. A decision will be made, one way or another, shortly.” said Trump in a tweet.

New York has become the US epicenter of the outbreak. As of Friday evening, there have been 25,500 confirmed cases of the Chinese virus and 366 deaths in the five boroughs.

A massive 552 members of the New York City Police Department have tested positive for the Coronavirus, including 442 officers.

Additionally, 4,111 NYPD officers are now on sick leave, which accounts for 11.4 percent of the department’s uniformed force.

Shortly after President Trump restricted flights from China, New Yorkers celebrated the Lunar New Year in defiance of the “Coronavirus scare.”

The Chairman of the New York City Council Health Committee tweeted on February 3rd, “If you are staying away, you are missing out!” — New York is now getting ravaged by the Coronavirus… and this guy still has a job.
