Twitter Censors MRC’s Video of Liberal Meltdown as ‘Sensitive Content’

Posted on 10 July 2020

It appears as if Twitter does not want people to see a liberal meltdown over supposed racial insensitivity.  “It hurts people when they see a white man bouncing a brown baby on their lap,” screamed New York City Community Education Councilwoman Robin Broshi during a meeting of the NYC Community Education Council District 2 (CEC D2). She was upset that Council member Thomas Wrocklage had a friend’s nephew on his lap for much of the meeting. “Read a book. Read Ibram Kendi. Read ‘White Fragility.’ Read ‘How to Talk to White People,’” she yelled.  This video clip was published by MRCTV, a division of the Media Research Center, which is also home to NewsBusters. Immediately, an interstitial, or filter, was placed on the video on Twitter. “The following media includes potentially sensitive content,” read the warning label.  Twitter Rules and Policies writes, “Twitter can identify potentially sensitive content that other users may not wish to see, such as violence or nudity.” But unless screaming is considered violence, there was neither violence nor nudity in this video. There was simply a caption, “ICYMI: NYC Community Education Councilwoman Robin Broshi went on an insane rant against another fellow councilman, calling him ‘racist’ for bouncing his friend's black baby on his lap.” Broshi’s rant lasted for longer than a minute. She screamed, “That is harmful! That makes people cry! It makes people log out of our meetings! They don’t come here! They won’t come to our meetings and they give me a hard time because I’m not vocal enough and I’m not trying to be a martyr.”  According to The Federalist, Wrocklage tried to defend himself, but was demonized by the rest of the board members and even was the subject of a letter to the president of the school board.  Previously, Twitter has censored President Donald Trump for posting a meme of himself, hid a tweet where he warned that attempts to turn St. John’s Episcopal Church into a “Black Autonomous Zone” would be “met with serious force,” and labelled a tweet about the George Floyd protests from Trump as “glorifying violence.”  As of the time of this publication, Twitter had not responded for comment.
