Does anyone believe Joe Scarborough has the best interests of the Republican party at heart? This is a guy who quit the party in 2017. And while he claims to still be a "conservative," how often do you hear him criticize liberal policies or politicians? Just this morning, he was lauding Barack Obama's partisan attack in the guise of a "eulogy" at the John Lewis funeral as "extraordinarily appropriate and moving."
So Scarborough's advice to Republicans should be taken with a grain of salt the size of Mt. Rushmore. But for those who might conceivably care what he had to say, on today's Morning Joe Scarborough instructed Republicans to head down to the White House and tell President Trump it's "time to go."
Here's the rant:

Morning Joe

JOE SCARBOROUGH: This guy is leading you to ruin . . . Donald Trump is going to lead your party to ruin. You don’t have to listen to me. If you want to be led to ruin, that’s totally fine.
. . .
So what are you going to do? Do you really want this guy at the top of your ticket in November? I know you don’t. So what are you going to do? Barry Goldwater, in 1974, got off his ass, went to the other side of Pennsylvania Aavenue, and told Richard Nixon it was time to go. Do you have the courage to do that? Last four years would suggest that you don’t . . . Donald Trump will lead to the end of the party of Abraham Lincoln. Maybe not this week, maybe not this month, maybe not even this election, but it’s coming. And your window is closing.
. . .
Maybe you didn’t care about a pandemic sweeping across America. But you care about your own political career, you care about your own political party. Understand: the window is closing. The time is drawing near when you go past the point of no return. Are you going to walk down to the White House? Are you going to get in your car, and go to the White House, and tell Donald Trump that it’s time for him to go?
It’s your choice. If you don’t, let me tell you what’s going to happen. You’re going to lose the election, you're going to lose the Senate, you're going to lose the House, you're going to lose in 2024. And yes: you're going to have a lot of time to complain about Democrats running this country for the rest of your adult life.
Failing to dump Trump, warned Scarborough, will lead not simply to political "ruin," but literally to "the end of the party of Abraham Lincoln," and "Democrats running this country for the rest of your adult life."
So take Joe's advice for what it's worth—which most Republicans are likely to conclude is equivalent to the worth which FDR VP John Nance Garner assigned to the vice-presidency.
