MSNBC host Joy Reid tore into Attorney General William Barr Monday night, for daring to criticize the media coverup of Antifa and Black Lives Matter violence, in a Fox News interview over the weekend. Her guest, legal analyst Glenn Kirschner was even more unhinged, breathlessly touting his conspiracy theory that Barr wanted to turn the country into a Christian “theocracy.”
After playing a clip of the interview, Reid shook her head in disgust and whined, “Attorney General William Barr would have you believe that the Black Lives Matter movement is just a vehicle for anti-fascist bogeyman Antifa and other non-descript violent agitators who are somehow also fascistic.”
She then cited a bizarre claim by the Washington Post that no one from Antifa has been arrested for violence at these protests:
"Despite Barr’s claims, TheWashington Post reports that there has been no arrests or solid proof connecting Antifa, which again, stands for anti-fascists, to violence at Black Lives Matter protests," she fumed.
Oh, those unbiased journalists at The Washington Post who glorified Antifa with a glossy celebrity photo shoot over the weekend?
Also, did Reid suddenly forget what she said on her July 22 show? A simple Google keyword search shows there have been multiple incidents of left-wing protesters, employ the same tactics as Antifa and BLM, getting arrested for assaulting officers all across the country. The ones I linked above were just from the last day alone. But it seems MSNBC producers think their audience is too trusting to do even the most basic research of their own.
Reid went on to smear Barr as associated with the fringe militia group, the “Boogaloo Boys”:
To the contrary, only members of the far-right group, the Boogaloo Boys have actually been arrested for inciting violence including charges of murder. In other words, the guy whose job it is to know better appears more concerned with blaming leftist groups, and Black Lives Matter groups, instead of looking in his own ideological backyard.
Reid then brought on MSNBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner to parrot her claim that the only violence at these demonstrations was by some fringe right-wing group. But not before she called the Attorney General, a fascist:
I’m joined now by Glenn Kirschner, a former federal prosecutor. Glenn, I find it very ironic because fascism involves the reverence for a secular leader whose almost treated in a God-like fashion. That actually literally describes the way that William Barr treats Donald Trump! What do you make of his accusations against the left?
Kirschner ranted and raved that Barr was a propagandist who would make Kim Jong Un and Putin “blush.” He then went off the deep end, touting his loony conspiracy that the AG wants to “create a theocracy” in America and make everyone Christians (the horror!) and make Donald Trump a “king” (what?):
I think he would like to create a theocracy where everyone in this country worships his God and attends his church and practices his religion. I think he really haves a goal and I think his really involves two priorities. One is creating a theocracy, making this an inhospitable place for all other religions or people who choose not to practice religion. And I think he's also looking to consolidate power in the chief executive because he has this notion of a unitary, all powerful executive as king, which fortunately the Supreme Court just shot down.
MSNBC was so enraged by Barr they couldn’t decide which snarky, CNN-like graphic they wanted to keep up. The chyron changed three times during this segment from “AG Barr makes misleading claims in bizarre interview,” to “AG Barr’s partisanship on display in stunning interview,” finally culminating with, “AG Barr slams Antifa for protest violence, despite evidence.” Three partial quotes from Barr also made very brief appearances on screen.
This MSNBC segment is one of many media meltdowns over the Attorney General not caving to left-wing radicals and their media publicists.

JOY REID: Attorney General William Barr would have you believe that the Black Lives Matter movement is just a vehicle for anti-fascist bogeyman Antifa and other non-descript violent agitators who are somehow also fascistic.
Despite Barr’s claims, the Washington Post reports that there has been no arrests or solid proof connecting Antifa, which again, stands for anti-fascists, to violence at Black Lives Matter protests.
GLENN KIRSCHNER: Yeah you know his statement yesterday to Fox News, and it was a painful 40 minutes to watch, it was a real study in propaganda, I frankly think it would make Kim Jong Un blush.
When you talk about Bill Barr making statements bashing Antifa and far left wing extremist groups, as he put it, he last did this on June 4th at a press conference when he stood up and he really did bash Antifa and he kept repeating “radical left wing groups”. You know what he declined to say? He declined to say that one day before, on June 3rd, his Department of Justice actually indicted three members of the boogalu investigation and it caused me to go back and pull out that DOJ press release from June 3rd. It says that “today we are announcing three alleged members of the boogaloo movement have been indicted for a conspiracy to cause destruction during the protests in Las Vegas and possession of an unregistered destructive device, a molotov cocktail.” You know, you scratch below the surface of anything Bill Barr says and the propaganda comes bursting through.
JOY REID: I mean, the suspension of disbelief required to think that he doesn't know what his own Department of Justice knows. He said in this interview that Russia would have no interest in seeing Donald Trump being re-elected because he's been tougher on Russia than anybody. He he he’s--pretending that he doesn't know Russia is trying to attack the election. He's claiming it is the Black Lives Matter organizations that are violent and scary when there have literally been people arrested in all black breaking windows and going into these movements. Is it ignorance or ideology with him? Because he's also in the past talked about academia and popular culture destroying religion.
KIRSCHNER: I don’t think it’s ignorance, I think it's ideology.
But when I was watching his interview broadcast by Fox, I really think the mother of all disinformation was the attack he made against the left for being cowards. Here’s how he couched it, He said, you know, “the left are filled with cowards because they're afraid to buck party orthodoxy. They're afraid to voice any opinions for fear that the leadership of the left will criticize them, walk away from them and then they won’t win reelection. I’m thinking what kind of projection is that because isn’t that exactly why the right--the cowards on the right have remained silent for fear of an angry tweet from Donald Trump? You know I think the propaganda that Bill Barr tried to feed us would make Putin bush.
