There’s a Contested Personal Story in Jill Biden’s Kelly Clarkson Cuddle (See Husband #1)

Posted on 01 March 2021

Thursday’s Jill Biden interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show had all the soft-soap markers of the Obama-Biden years. Clarkson’s show is a property of NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, and NBC loves putting out these “humanize the Democrat” programs.  Clarkson began in the East Room of the White House oozing “We have a super special guest here for the entire hour. I lucked out. I’ve hit the lottery!” Before the show aired, the ads promised Doctor Biden would warmly counsel Clarkson about her recent divorce. "If I hadn't gotten divorced, I never would've met Joe," Biden told Clarkson. "I wouldn't have the beautiful family I have now, so I really think things happen for the best." But there's a wrinkle in that claim the media ignore. Doctor Jill's first husband said they were friends with the Bidens a couple of years before their 1975 divorce. They showed video of Jill's first husband Bill Stevenson (from Inside Edition) on Friday's Ingraham Angle on Fox News. Stevenson says they met Joe Biden and his first wife Neilia in 1972, and they both volunteered in Biden's campaign for Senate. (Neilia died in a car crash after the election.) Where are the fact checkers? PolitiFact didn't exactly leap on it. Just how promotional was this interview for Jill Biden? Like a page from the Michelle Obama Playbook. This show was so perfectly plotted that she honored a teacher's request to sing the 1967 pop song "Get Together" by the Youngbloods. You know, the one that gushes about brotherhood: Come on, people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another right now Clarkson said she'd never heard of it. "I love this song!" Doctor Biden explained. "I think it's so perfect for today, because our country has been so divided. Now, if we could just come together and solve our differences." The Biden love story apparently defines "too good to check."
