‘West Wing’ Star Swoons Over Psaki Being ‘Friendly to the Press’

Posted on 18 March 2021

Appearing on CBS’s Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday, actress Allison Janney, who played fictional White House Press Secretary CJ Gregg for seven seasons on NBC’s The West Wing, swooned over real-life Biden administration Press Secretary Jen Psaki. The celebrity hailed the Democratic spokeswoman as a “real hero” for being “friendly to the press.” “And many people noticed that Jen Psaki, President Biden’s press secretary, is giving off major CJ Cregg vibes,” Corden gushed while holding up a side-by-side photo of Janney’s West Wing character standing at a fictitious White House podium and Psaki standing at the actual podium during a recent press briefing. Corden then asked: “What do we think about this?”     Janney was thrilled: I am incredibly flattered that you would put us side-by-side like that. I think she is – she is the real life CJ Cregg, she’s the real hero. I so admire her, it’s so lovely to see someone in that office, you know, as the press secretary, you know, being friendly to the press, being so smart and capable. And I’m just, I just am in love with her. Fox News White House correspondents Peter Doocy and Kristen Fisher would beg to differ about Psaki being “friendly to the press.” The Biden communications aide is only friendly to leftist media reporters who don’t ask tough questions. Janney went on to hope that she somehow inspired Psaki: “And I like to think that maybe she grew up watching West Wing so I had a little bit of an influence in her, you know, career path.” Corden chimed in: “I think you did.” Only among the Hollywood left is someone deemed a “hero” for being “friendly” to the liberal media. The cheerleading for Psaki was brought to viewers by Target and Lincoln. You can fight back by letting these advertisers know what you think of them sponsoring such content.
