Nets Boast Biden Bashing GOP Election Laws, Skip Pelosi STEALING Iowa Seat

Posted on 25 March 2021

During their evening newscast coverage of President Biden’s embarrassing first press conference on Thursday, each of the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) lauded Biden for smearing Republican elections bills as akin to “Jim Crow” laws. Meanwhile, none of them wanted to inform their viewers about how Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was trying to steal a Republican House seat in Iowa; a victory lawfully certified by the state. “Mr. Biden grew most fiery on the issue of voting rights, as Republican legislators across the country pass restrictions that could disproportionately affect the very people who got him elected: minorities and young Americans,” CBS chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes lied on Evening News. On NBC Nightly News, chief White House correspondent Kristen Welker gushed about how “The president flashing anger when asked about Republican efforts to limit voting rights.” And ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir un-ironically quoted Biden saying: President Biden responding, calling the whole initiative “un-American,” in his words, and “sick.” He said he would soon lay out a strategy to address it, saying many Republican voters in this country would not be behind this if the public fully knew. Speaking of stuff being kept from the public, Fox News Channel wasn’t beholden to the Democratic Party so they had no issue telling people about Pelosi’s attack on democracy.     As an update to their segment from Monday, Special Report anchor Bret Baier noted that there was a new “warning from Iowa’s governor and secretary of state about Washington interference,” along with outrage from the district as Pelosi moved to strip duly elected Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-2) of her 2020 victory. “Republicans believe there's a potential coup afloat in Iowa, by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” reported congressional correspondent Chad Pergram. “Over-turning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, doesn't mean a majority should,” Governor Kim Reynolds said in a soundbite. Pergram highlighted how Pelosi was defending her move to disenfranchise Iowa voters and supplant Miller-Meeks with her preferred politician, Democrat Rita Hart: PELOSI: If you had lost by six votes, wouldn’t you like to say, there must be some way that we can count this? PERGRAM: Today, Pelosi defended her decision to seat Miller-Meeks even though there’s an investigation. PELOSI: Now, if I wanted to be unfair, it wouldn't have seated the Democrat – the Republican from Iowa, because that was my right on the opening day. “The entire argument that the Democrats made was: if a state has certified the outcome of an election, it's the duty of election officials to accept that certification,” Iowa State University political science professor Karen Kedrowski said, explaining the Democratic Party’s hypocrisy. “And so, now they’re placed in an awkward position because Representative Miller-Meeks was certified as the winner.” The segment concluded with Pergram explaining how Pelosi’s plot seemed on the road to failure. “It takes a two-thirds vote to expel a member. Some conservative Democrats now oppose removing Miller-Meeks,” he said. The network blackout of Speaker Pelosi’s attack on democracy was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from TD Ameritrade on ABC, Ancestry on CBS, and Liberty Mutual on NBC. This evening, a warning from Iowa’s governor and secretary of state about Washington interference. Here's congressional correspondent Chad Pergram. [Cuts to video] CHAD PERGRAM: Republicans believe there's a potential coup afloat in Iowa, by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. JERRY VOS (Monroe, Iowa resident): We're the ones that voted her in. And it’s being taken away from us. PERGRAM: Top Iowa Republicans ripped House Democrats. GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS (R): Over-turning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, doesn't mean a majority should. PERGRAM: Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks eked out a six-vote win over Democrat Rita Hart last fall. Miller-Meeks flipped the seat from blue to red. Iowa election officials certified the results. Pelosi had no problem with Miller-Meeks’ victory late last year. UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Madam Speaker, do you plan to seat Ms. Miller-Meeks on Sunday? SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI (D-CA): Yes, and Yes. PERGRAM: Hart appealed her loss to the House, and House Democrats jumped at the chance to probe the race’s outcome. PELOSI: If you had lost by six votes, wouldn’t you like to say, there must be some way that we can count this? PERGRAM: Today, Pelosi defended her decision to seat Miller-Meeks even though there’s an investigation. PELOSI: Now, if I wanted to be unfair, it wouldn't have seated the Democrat – the Republican from Iowa, because that was my right on the opening day. PERGRAM: Hart declined a request to speak to Fox for this story. Voters could accuse Democrats of trying to have it both ways. KAREN KEDROWSKI (Iowa State University): The entire argument that the Democrats made was, if a state has certified the outcome of an election, it's the duty of election officials to accept that certification. And so, now they’re placed in an awkward position because Representative Miller-Meeks was certified as the winner. [Cuts to video] PERGRAM: It takes a two-thirds vote to expel a member. Some conservative Democrats now oppose removing Miller-Meeks. That could work to their political advantage in battleground districts, using the Speaker as a foil. Bret. BAIER: Chad Pergram, live on the Hill. Chad, thanks.
